In Deni, you don’t have to wait for a crisis to reach out.

Tthroughout Mental Health Month, we’re reminding our community that connection matters — and that in Deni, we look out for each other.

This week, our focus is on HELP. ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.

Sometimes we can convince ourselves that what we’re going through isn’t “serious” enough to ask for help. We might be feeling low, worried, overwhelmed or simply having a difficult time — and think we should just manage it ourselves.

But reaching out doesn’t have to wait until things become overwhelming. Sometimes sharing how you’re feeling, asking a question or simply having someone listen can make a real difference.

And help is more accessible than many people realise.

Most of the helplines listed on our website are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and many now offer different ways to connect. If making a phone call doesn’t feel comfortable, some services allow you to send a text or use an online chat, giving you another way to reach out when and where it suits you.

There are services for different people and different circumstances. They include Lifeline, Kids Helpline, MensLine Australia, 1800RESPECT and 13YARN, as well as a range of other support services. Their contact numbers and information about the support they provide can all be found on the Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group website.

You might never need those numbers yourself — but knowing where to find them means you can also help a friend, family member, workmate or neighbour who does.

HELP. ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.

And during Mental Health Month, that’s another simple way we can remember that in Deni, we look out for each other.
