Small changes can be a sign someone is struggling

If someone is having a hard time, there will usually be changes from how they normally act.

  • Have they stopped hanging out or doing things they usually enjoy?

  • Do they seem angry or sad?

  • Have they talked about giving up or feeling hopeless?

Notice when something feels off and check in.

Simply ask and listen

Talking to someone you’re worried about can help them feel supported.

Start with

  • “I’ve noticed you seem down - do you want to talk?”

  • “I care about you. What’s going on?”

  • If you’re really worried, ask: “Are you thinking about suicide?”

Don’t try to give advice or fix it.
Just start the conversation so they can talk and feel heard.
