SUICIDE IS PREVENTABLE

Learn the simple STEPS you can take to support someone's mental health.

Today, on World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September), Deniliquin was set to come together for our community walk. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, the walk has been postponed to the 17th September — but our commitment to suicide prevention remains strong.

Even though we can’t gather as planned, we are proud to officially launch our new suicide prevention campaign today.

Every Step Matters

Suicide prevention is not just the work of professionals or services. It’s about the everyday steps we can all take as community members:

  • Notice when someone doesn’t seem themselves

  • Reach out, start a conversation & listen with care

  • Share with someone you trust

  • Encourage support — remind them help is always available

  • Show kindness to yourself

Talking about suicide does not make things worse — but silence and stigma do.

A Community Promise

This campaign is about showing that suicide affects families and communities everywhere, including ours, and that no one has to face it alone. Every action we take — whether walking beside someone, checking in, or pointing them to support — is a step toward breaking down stigma and saving lives.

Explore the Campaign

We invite you to visit our dedicated campaign page at www.denimentalhealth.org.au/steps where you can learn more, explore resources, and find practical steps we can each take. Together, these small actions make a big difference.
