Deni joins in 16 Days of Activism

Deniliquin Domestic Violence Liaison Committee (DVLC) leads the way


The DVLC in Deniliquin launched their new poster campaign , as part of this campaign to end gender based violence in our community.


The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign led annually by UN Women. It runs every year from 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day).

During the 16 Days of Activism, communities around the world join the call to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls.


This group consisting of service providers and members of the community, this week launched a new poster campaign as part of the work they do around awareness of domestic violence (DV) and services available to support people who might be

experiencing Domestic Violence.


The posters are educational and explains the different types or elements of DV and gives a strong message that it is not ok; whilst providing avenues to help. Thes posters will be visible throughout the community and particularly behind toilet doors at clubs and venues around Deniliquin.


Vinnies Services are part of this committee and one of the service providers who provide support and case management to those experiencing and/or wanting to escape DV.

MLHD also has a counselling service which can be accessed through calling 1800 654 324 , as well as a sexual assault service on 5882 2925.
