As part of Families Stronger Together in Deni initiative, Deni MHAG aims at helping parents, carers and educators access Resources around supporting children and young people of all ages with their mental health and wellbeing.

Whilst the funding focus of this initiative is focussed on digital and online supports, Deni MHAG will be hosting a free Mental Health and Wellbeing Mini Conference at the RSL club on 18th October 2023.

This day will focus on providing education and informing community about pathways to help. Day and evening sessions will be held. There is also a wellbeing stream and people can choose to attend one or many sessions throughout the day.

One of the educational sessions, Empowering Youth : When to Seek Help, will focus on typical teen development, and when to seek help if we are worried about the mental health of the young person.

The session will look at useful strategies for managing stress, anxiety, and depression, as well exploring various services and resources.

Presenting on this and leading a discussion and Q and A session is Judith McGill. Judith McGill is an Accredited Social Worker, DBT therapist and Clinical Leader for the local counselling service, MyStep to Mental Wellbeing.

Judith has a passion for supporting children and young people and over the past 17 years, she has worked with ACON Health, Relationships Australia, Intereach and Community Mental Health providing therapy and case management services. Judith has extensive experience in various therapeutic approaches, supervision and leadership and her work is trauma-informed and person-centred.
